The Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, Inc. (SCFG) has aimed to improve the quality of life for individuals and families in Georgia impacted by sickle cell disease (SCD) since 1971. A comprehensive and compassionate approach to providing care to sickle cell warriors, led to the establishment of the Wellness Sanctuary. We're dedicated to improving the quality of life for everyone, with complete wellness in mind that compliments traditional medical care.

Dr. Tabatha L. McGee 
Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Tabatha L. McGee is a globally respected visionary leader, author, and changemaker whose work sits at the intersection of health equity, leadership development, and community-centered innovation. She is the Chief Executive Officer of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, Inc., the Founder of the Sickle Cell Sanctuary, and the author of Fit to Lead, a leadership manifesto that reframes executive excellence through wellness, discipline, and purpose—particularly for leaders operating in high-stakes, mission-driven environments. Recognized as a transformative force in the sickle cell movement, Tabatha has emerged as a national and international voice advocating for systemic change, holistic care models, and dignity-centered solutions for individuals living with sickle cell disease and other life-threatening blood disorders. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in lived experience and guided by a core belief: sustainable impact begins with whole, resilient leaders who lead from strength—not survival.

Dr. Anthony Onyegbula
Hematologist

Dr. Anthony Onyegbula is an oncologist who specializes in treating patients with cancer and blood disorders. With 30 years of experience in oncology, Dr. Onyegbula focuses on providing comprehensive cancer care to help patients navigate their treatment journey. He practices at the Center of Hope for Cancer and Blood Disorders and at the Sickle Cell Sanctuary, where patients receive specialized care for sickle cell and various types of cancer and blood-related conditions. Dr. Onyegbula earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is affiliated with Piedmont Fayette Hospital and Southern Regional Medical Center, providing patients with access to advanced cancer treatment resources. Dr. Onyegbula brings his extensive osteopathic medical training to his cancer care practice.

Qualateai Atanda
Director, Wellness Sanctuary

Qualateai Atanda is the Chief Wellness Officer of the Wellness Sanctuary, bringing a deep passion for those impacted by sickle cell disease, with healthcare experience and a strong foundation in laboratory science, specializing in sickle cell disease and trait diagnostic procedures. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s in Public Health from Fort Valley State University. Qualateai’s interest in the health of the population has inspired her to work with organizations that assist individuals battling blood cancers and disorders match with donors, and individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Qualateai’s leadership style is rooted in working together as a team, open communication, and encouraging each other, and feels patient care and experience is optimized when the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of providers and staff are prioritized.

Dana Hill
Medical Director

Dana Hill is a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner with expertise in mood disorders, anxiety, and complex medical-psychiatric conditions, including sickle cell disease. She is passionate about providing culturally responsive, patient-centered care that supports both mental and physical health. Dana has a special passion for working with individuals living with sickle cell disease and understands the emotional toll of chronic pain and navigating the healthcare system. She brings a warm, down-to-earth approach to care, creating a space where patients can be honest, feel supported, and walk away with practical tools they can actually use.

Contrina Wilcox
Psychotherapist

Dr. Contrina Wilcox, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia, with a Honorary Doctoral Degree in Christian Leadership and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Is passionate about helping people and believe that, with the right tools and guidance, individuals can thrive—not necessarily in perfection, but in a life that feels right for them. Over the years, Contrina has worked with clients facing a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, stress, relationship issues, family issues, life transitions, and anger management. She's also helped those who find themselves at difficult crossroads in life and are seeking direction, healing, and solutions. Her counseling style is warm, interactive, and holistic, focusing on the whole person, not just the mind. She takes into account all aspects of life to assess the best path to wellness, using a combination of therapeutic practices.

Raven Martinez
Reflexologist

Raven is Licensed Massage Therapist with a passion for helping others feel safe, supported, and at ease in their bodies. Her journey into massage therapy is rooted in compassion and a genuine desire to care for people navigating chronic pain and stress, including those living with sickle cell disease and other common health conditions. She takes a gentle, intentional approach to her work and is always listening, adapting, and meeting each person where they are. For Raven, massage isn’t just about physical relief, it’s about creating a space where you can relax, feel understood, and experience true comfort. Her goal is to make every client feel cared for, respected, and restored.

Tikia Almon
Office Manager

Tikia Almon is a dedicated healthcare professional with over 15 years of experience across a variety of clinical and administrative settings. Known for her compassionate approach and strong leadership, she is committed to fostering a positive, supportive environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence. With a leadership style rooted in setting the example, focusing on collaboration, efficiency, and high-quality patient care, she brings a thoughtful, patient-centered perspective to the Office Manager's role, with a natural ability to connect with others and provide meaningful support to both staff and patients. As a lifelong learner, she continuously seeks opportunities for growth and development. Her personal and professional experiences have strengthened her resilience, adaptability, and empathy—qualities that guide her commitment to creating a welcoming and empowering environment where individuals feel valued and supported.

Imani Green
Registered Nurse

Imani Green is a Registered Nurse from Middle Georgia with a professional background in cardiac and telemetry nursing. She earned her Associate of Science in Nursing in 2021 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2022 at Albany State University. Her clinical experience and academic foundation reflect a strong commitment to patient-centered care and excellence in nursing practice. Currently, Imani is advancing her education at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she is pursuing a graduate degree to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. In tandem with this path, she is also working toward a Doctorate in Nursing with a Nurse Educator subspecialty, demonstrating her passion for leadership, advanced clinical practice, and shaping future generations of nurses. Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Imani is a devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and an active participant in the National Black Nurses Association. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with family and friends and spending quality moments with her three playful dogs. Throughout her career, Lia has demonstrated a passion for patient care, with a growing interest in becoming a physician assistant within the medical field. She takes pride in helping streamline workflows and supporting both patients and colleagues to ensure the highest standard of care.

Travis Ramsey
Psychotherapist

Living with or loving someone with sickle cell disease carries not only the burden of physical health concerns but emotional effects ranging from anxiety and depression to strained family relationships. Let our professionally licensed and caring mental health therapists support you through these all-too-common experiences and help you live your life to the fullest. Travis Ramsey, Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has over 13 years of experience in the mental health field, working in multiple addiction treatment centers and in private practice, serving adolescents through adults. He sees individuals, couples, and families, believing that loving connections with ourselves and others is the best path to overall health. With advanced training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy, along with Mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems Therapy, and the option of integrating one’s spirituality, he uses specific strategies to help clients heal their internal wounds while creating safe and secure relationships. Outside of work, Travis is a single dad to three amazing daughters and understands the complexities of parenting, long-term relationships, family rifts, divorce, and dating. Having sought out therapy for himself in all these situations, he understands the courage it takes to ask for help and the value of a counselor. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, hunting mid-century treasures, running, and going on adventures. New to the sickle cell community, he bases his therapy on two principles: that every human experience makes sense with the patience to listen and understand, and that there is a part of him that can relate to every one of his clients’ problems. Whether for a single session or long-term therapy, he creates a space where clients feel understood, valued, and empowered to make their lives better.

Dr. Mahla Judge
Acupuncture Physician

Dr. Mahla Judge is a licensed, Board-Certified Acupuncturist with nearly two decades of clinical experience helping adolescents and adults improve their health through compassionate, evidence-informed care. She specializes in treating chronic pain, stress-related conditions, women's health, and nervous system regulation, using gentle, patient-centered acupuncture to support the body's natural healing processes. She earned her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the Won Institute of Graduate Studies and completed advanced clinical training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the New York Spine Institute. Dr. Judge is also trained in the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) protocol, an evidence-informed auricular acupuncture approach used to support stress reduction, emotional wellness, trauma recovery, and addiction treatment. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Judge serves as a college professor in integrative health, where she is passionate about educating future healthcare professionals and advancing holistic, patient-centered care. At the Sickle Cell Sanctuary, Dr. Judge is honored to be part of a collaborative team dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care that supports the physical, emotional, and overall wellbeing of every individual served.
